What do I need to start driving lessons with CreekWheels Driving School?
To start lessons with CreekWheels, you’ll need a valid learner permit and to be at least 17 years old, which is the legal age for driving in Ireland. Just bring your permit along to your first lesson, and we’ll take care of the rest!
How many lessons will I need to pass my driving test?
Every learner is different, but in Ireland, new drivers are required to complete the 12 Essential Driver Training (EDT) lessons before taking the driving test. Many learners feel confident with the 12 EDT lessons and additional practice in between, while others may benefit from extra lessons for added practice and confidence. We can provide guidance based on your progress and goals.
Can I take driving lessons in my own car?
Yes, you can, provided your car is fully insured, roadworthy, and has L plates. However, we recommend starting in one of our fully insured, dual-control vehicles, which provide added safety for new drivers. Once you feel confident, you may wish to transition to your own car for some lessons.
How do I book a lesson, and can I reschedule if I need to?
Booking with CreekWheels is easy! You can book your lessons online or contact us directly. If you need to reschedule, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows us to adjust our schedule and offer the time slot to another learner.
Do you offer any discounts for students?
Yes! CreekWheels offers a 25% discount on driving lessons for students. We believe in supporting young drivers as they work toward their license. Just bring your valid student ID to your first lesson to avail of the discount.
What can I expect from my first driving lesson?
During your first lesson, your instructor will go over the basics, including car controls, safety procedures, and getting comfortable behind the wheel. You’ll start with simple driving exercises in a quiet area to help you ease into the experience. We work at your pace, so you feel supported and confident right from the start.
What happens if I’m nervous about driving?
At CreekWheels, we understand that driving can feel overwhelming, especially for new learners. Our Nervous Driver Support program is designed to help you build confidence gradually, with patient, understanding instructors who’ll guide you through each step. We focus on creating a positive, relaxed environment where you can develop at your own pace.
Do I need to practice outside of my lessons?
Yes, practicing outside of your lessons, with a fully licensed driver, is beneficial for building experience and confidence. It’s a great way to reinforce what you’ve learned in your lessons. Many learners find it helpful to practice regularly, even for short trips, to improve their skills.
Can I take my driving test in your car?
Absolutely! We offer a Pretest Driving Lesson with Car Rental package, which includes a final practice session and the use of one of our test-ready, fully insured cars for the exam. It’s a convenient option to help you feel comfortable and prepared on test day.
How do I prepare for the driving test in Ireland?
To prepare for the test, we recommend completing all 12 EDT lessons, practicing regularly outside of lessons, and scheduling a Pretest Lesson. A Pretest Lesson with CreekWheels will focus on the specific skills you’ll need, simulate a mock driving test, and highlight any areas that may need improvement. Our instructors will guide you every step of the way to help you feel fully prepared.
Do I need insurance for driving lessons?
No, insurance is provided for all learners using CreekWheels vehicles. If you plan to practice outside of lessons in your own car, however, you’ll need insurance coverage under the supervision of a fully licensed driver.
Are CreekWheels instructors RSA-approved?
Yes, all CreekWheels instructors are fully qualified and RSA (Road Safety Authority) approved. They’re dedicated to providing professional, supportive instruction tailored to each learner’s unique needs.
What if I don’t pass my driving test the first time?
No worries! Many drivers take more than one attempt to pass, and our instructors are here to help you improve. We can identify areas to work on, schedule additional lessons, and provide encouragement so you’re ready to succeed on your next attempt.
